We’ve all heard it before. Create a Free offer for your audience in order to get their contact information. All this so that you can then offer them your amazing services.
But it can be easy for us to get stuck wondering: What to I make? What do I talk about? Do I do a webinar or a PDF? Do I talk about email marketing or landing pages?
RELAX! Your first free offer is the hardest one to create but it surely won’t be the only one you make or develop. So don’t try to do it all at once!
Here are 3 steps to creating a great Free Offer
Step 1: Be Specific
As I just mentioned don’t try to fit all your knowledge into one offer! Be specific about what you’re offering and focus on solving only one problem for your clients! Yes, just one!
Here are a few questions that will help you narrow down your options:
- What has your audience or target market been asking you about lately?
- Where do you see a greater need for change or improvement?
- What in your field of expertise excites you the most?
These questions are a great way to narrow down the topic for your offer. For example, I love marketing but I began to notice a lot of questions showing up about the topic of landing pages. I also noticed that some landing pages I came across could use some improvements so that they could really shine!

Step 2: Decide on a format or presentation
Now that you got your one specific topic it’s time to decide on format. There are a couple of things to keep in mind when deciding on the best format for your offer:
- What format are your clients most familiar with?
- What format do you feel most comfortable with?
- How much time and effort will it take to get it ready?
Here is the deal, you can’t make this decision based solely on the answer to one of these questions. If your clients love webinars but you’re not comfortable in front of a camera maybe a free webinar isn’t the way to go. If you love to do video but you’re pressed for time and don’t know when you’ll be able to do it, maybe it’s best to try another format for now.
You can always change and improve your offer in the future!
Here are some formats for your free offer (make sure to weigh the pro’s and con’s of each of them):
- Member only area for your site
- Email course
- Video series
- Facebook Group
You’re almost ready to create your offer! Just one last thing to get done.
Step 3: Write down your outline
Now that you know what format to use and the topic for your offer it’s time to write down your outline for the offer. Write down the main topics you’ll want to cover and organize them in the order you need them to be.
Once you have an outline you’ll be able to create your offer with ease, while making sure that you don’t miss anything.
